SEND
‘Inclusion is not about physical proximity, it is about intentionally planning for the success of all students’ - National Inclusion Project
At Regina Coeli, our curriculum is aspirational for all. We have high expectations for pupils, including those with SEND needs. Our teachers meet regularly with the SENDCo, to discuss individual pupil progress, identify additional needs and plan to provide the appropriate support. We provide access to the curriculum through the use additional resources including practical apparatus, visual aids, IT and additional adult support. There are two trained emotional literacy support assistants (ELSAs) in our school, whose role is to support the emotional wellbeing of pupils. We also work with outside agencies including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and occupational therapists to provide assessments and support plans for those children with specific needs. The evidence gained through the Assess, Plan, Do, Review model of SEND is used to support applications for additional funding through the Locality SEND or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) when appropriate. More information can be found through the SEND Information Report.
