Databases have been the focus of our computing lessons this half term.  Children are beginning to create their own databases, research and input information in to them and then completing searches to filter information.  The children can complete or even crete their own databases using our LGFL resources:, selecting Tool Suite, Just 2 Easy and logging in using their log in information.  I can monitor the children's LGFL files so if they want me to see any additional work they have done, they just need to let me know!

This week in Maths we are looking at money and how to give change. In English we are continuing to research the UK. We will be putting the finishing touches to our non chronological report writing by adding paragraphs about the physical geographical features of the UK and the capital cities of the countries that make up the United Kingdom and their famous landmarks.

Following on from our rather exciting but muddy soil investigation last week, we are going to find out how a dinosaurs footprint was made.

In art we are starting to compare different cultures, focusing on art from each continent. First we are going to be experience Aboriginal art using dot painting. This traditional type of art tells the story of the 'Dreamtime' from Aboriginal culture.

The children are looking forward to showing you all their amazing work during parents evenings this week. They have been working so hard and are eager to show off all their skills.

As part of our developing computing skills the children are trying hard to develope their keyboard and mouse  accuracy.  These are skills that are built up over time andneed regualr practice.  It eoold be brillaint if you could help at home by working with your child to spend 5 minutes as often as you can on these websites. - BBC Dance Mat Typing - Mouse Control

26th February 2018

This week we have been working hard in maths learning all about fractions. In English we have been doing research all about the United Kingdom. We are going to write a fact file of our findings which we will give to year 4 so they have some background information to use on their trip later in the year. In art we have been experimenting, sketching using different grades of pencils. We have practiced  shading techniques whilst drawing still life and fossils. Whilst in geography we have been learning about compasses and treasure maps.

And of course we all took part in the school snowman building competition!

Every day children need to bring: reading book and reading log, maths homework book, spelling book and water bottle.

Homework: Reading every night (an adult will need to sign this each night). Maths homework every day will be to consolidate the children's learning from that day. Spellings: complete one column and 3 quality sentences every night referring to this week's grammar focus.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to come in!
