This term we are looking at fictional texts. The children will be writing their own narratives and character descriptions based on the book shared in class.
Spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG)
The children will be focussing on grammar skills each week; this will be incorporated into their writing each week. We would be grateful if you can practise these skills during their spelling homework and also look for examples of these when reading with your child.
The children will have a comprehension lesson each week, where they will be answering questions based on a text. Again, we would like you to help them practise answering questions at home when they are reading with you (ask lots of why/how questions). Get them to recap on the story and predict what might happen next.
Please can you practise the number bonds to 10 with the children so that they know them by heart. They also need to know 1 more/less and 10 more/less than ANY number to 100.
We also ask that you practise counting in 2’s and 10’s with your child and help them learn their times tables at home – 2x, 10x.
This term we will be covering place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. This class work will be reflected in the weekly homework.
