30th October 2017

This week our learning focus will be on the following: -

In Phonics we will learning 4 new sounds a week and some high frequency (HF) words (these are words that the children will come across in their reading and writing so it is important that the children practise these regularly).  Our sounds this week will be s,a,t,p and our HF words are a, as and at.  Look in the children’s book bags on Friday for some homework relating to what we have learnt this week.

In Literacy we will beginning to learn our new focus story – The 3 Little Pigs.  Your child will also bring home a reading book this week.  Please read this book with your child every night and make a note in the reading record book.  This is really important so that we know they are being heard read on a regular basis.  We will change these books twice a week when we have heard your child read in class.  If you think that you might be able to help us in class with reading and changing of books then please speak to the class teacher.

In Maths we are focusing on the number 5 so we will be playing lots of games to enable the children to recognise patterns of 5, see how many ways they can make 5 using objects, finding out 1 more/1 less etc.

We will also start practising for our Christmas performance where the children will perform the Nativity story for you.  The date of the performance will be confirmed this week and it is a definite date to put in your diary!

Rosary will continue until Tuesday and there is a mass for All Saints on Wednesday 1 November at 10.30am in the hall.  All are welcome to join us.
